About Theresa “Rese” Redula

Theresa Redula is one of the pioneer reporters of OMNI News: Filipino Edition, writing and delivering stories daily that shed light on underreported topics and issues within the Filipino-Canadian community. Her reporting has reached audiences at scale, driving over 3.6 million views across digital platforms in 2025. She was also one of the voices behind the Pinoy Nation podcast, appears on CityNews broadcasts across Canada, and has presented live in-studio on CityNews 24/7 and Breakfast Television.

Her reporting has taken her across the country, including assignments in Ottawa and Winnipeg, and she has built a wide network of contacts and sources spanning Canada’s provinces and territories, within and beyond the Filipino-Canadian community.

Previously, Theresa’s work appeared in The St. Catharines Standard, The Welland Tribune and the Niagara Falls Review. She was also a reporter and photographer with Niagara News, where she served as Editor, Associate Editor and Photo Editor across multiple issues. Her photography from the 2019 federal election was published as front-page images across all three papers. She holds a Journalism Diploma from Niagara College Canada.

Born and raised in the Philippines, Theresa moved to Canada in 2018 and lived the experiences of an international student firsthand – an experience that continues to shape how she approaches stories about identity, community and belonging. She graduated with honours and scholar award, and received the Global Citizenship Award for her “distinctive contributions to develop their cultural diversity and strengthen their communities both locally and internationally.”

She is passionate about human-interest stories, always looking for the angle behind the headline that others might miss. Outside of journalism, Theresa travels, experiments with coffee recipes for her family’s café, finds the best restaurants and cafés in the city, and captures it all through visuals and social media content.

Friends and colleagues also call her Rese.
